Thriller film poster research

I decided to do some extra research ready for when I come to creating my own film poster. I decided to use Instagram in order to present my pictures.

Whilst looking at the thriller film posters, I noticed there is usually one or two main characters shown either in an action or still shot. This shows the audience either what it could be about or how the characters feel used by the mid shots and close ups used.

The colours mainly used for the background is either black or dark blue. This connotes a range of emotions such as worry, sad, paranormal etc. The colours are dark which tells the audience the film will be scary such as a horror or a thriller genre.

The titles are usually located at the bottom either in white or red font. This connotes danger. There is usually a tag line used at the top to give a little information out. There is also usually the release date located at the very bottom of the poster. Some of the posters have the celebrity names on in order to gain star power for the film.
